Oil of Abramelin
-
93 All!
I reacently attempted to make my own oil and I've been having trouble getting the essential oils to disovle in the olive oil. I keep coming out with what looks more like saled dressing thats been sitting too long. Any one got any suggestions on this?
The recipe I've been using is the standard
8 parts cinnomon
4 parts myrrh
2 parts galanal
7 parts olive oilso what am i doing wrong?

Note that the original recipe does not involve proportions of oils but of the raw ingredients (raw myrrh tears etc.). The oil comes from the olive oil.
True, it's become common to use the oils - but that isn't what the recipe calls for.

The process of making Abramelin Oil is not a blending of essential oils [traditionally speaking] but there are methods of blending, which you will note in the linkage below.
Hopefully this might give you further avenues for research:

Good luck!

I know its not the recipe from the Book of Sacred Magick but it seemed to work for AC. Is it frowned upon now days to use essential oils?

I think the main thing to notice when doing that is not to add the quantity of olive oil. Olive oil was there just to turn it all into oil. If you already have them in oil forms, you don't need more "neutral" oil.
Personally, I've always just bought it! I'm not a chemist.

That said...is there a resource you recommend?
Here are a couple that I have heard good things about, but have never tried, perhaps some of the listerati have their favorites??

Personally, I am a big fan of the **Oil of Abramelin **handcrafted by Marlene Cornelius. Nice sharp cinnamon top note, coupled with middle note of Galangal and base notes of Myrrh and olive. Unfortunately, she is no longer making this Oil. I have tried to mimic it, but alas... not quite the same.

Your local occult store is the first stop, I'd guess. Just ask them how they actually make it.
And yes, if you're going to order it, the somaluna.com product is very good.
