Why is the wand illustrated in part II of Liber ABA shown to be almost 2' long when 8" is the length given for the Baculum?

It was very hard to (oh, there I go again!) writing the earlier answer without innuendo when the subject was the head and length of my wand! I managed to keep myself under control, but suspected someone else would finish the job for me.
Can I help it if I have the hardest and most beautiful 8" wand anyone has ever seen?

Jim, another old thread here, but I was wondering how you created the head of your wand. I used gold wire myself but it isn't aesthetically pleasing. LOL. Is it cast in gold or is it a material like Sculpy painted gold?

I paid a jeweler to custom craft it, and worked with him on the design. The usual jewelry design: A wax mold hand-carved, then a solid mold made from this. Gold is too soft for the whole thing (and has some temperature issues in welding to the solid copper rod), so the root head was cast in silver and finished, then a bonding layer of rhodium (a metal in the platinum family) was used to bond the gold sheathing to the silver.

The official A.'.A.'. elemental implements all have specifications that make them proportionate to each other (and to other 8" things in the design).
But from a pure (system-independent) magical perspective: Sure, shorter works.

Do you remember how much it cost? I am researching this stuff for future reference and all.

The jeweler asked what I was willing to pay. I said that I was bound by a spiritual principle to not haggle over the price of this, and to simply pay him his asking price if I was at all capable. He set the price at $400. I asked if he'd mind if I increased it to $418.00, and he consented without haggling.
Years later, he later told me that the labor was far more than he'd estimated, and he should have charged me at least double that - but he stuck with his original deal. This was around 1987 or '88, so it wouldn't be unreasonable for someone to ask at least $1,000 today, I think.
