meditative state on cannabis
-
ok, i havent acutally experimented with full on meditation while on cannabis, but it is on my list of things to do very sooon.
anywho, somtimes(when i let it) while im on my porch at night, ile enjoy the night scenery to a bull of cannabis, and if i choose t let myself go still to enjoy it more, my mind will want to (click) into a meditative state, so here is the trippy thing about it.
When i relax a bit, siitng in my chair outside, suddenly(and allways suddenly) everything will(reality, matrix style?) will flex, like in the first matrix when neo came back to life after jumping into agent smith, when he stretched his arms downward the room flex in and out like a bubble, very much like that, but when that happens i immediately get dissoriented until i stap out of it.
another weird thing that happens at the same time, is that in my body i will feal something shaped like a tadpol or sperm, a big one, like the tail at my tailbone and its head up to my neck, (energetic ofcourse not a real one) and its a lite yellowish light, and it will wiggle as if trying to get out(going up) and if i let it persist the wiggleing will get more intense.
and all this usually happens at the same time i so normally snap out of it like WTF. its a lil hard to grasp, i dont experience these things sober, what do you guys(and girls) think is happening? especially the matrix thing that happens, thats weird....

Cannabis is very well suited to the meditative state. It allows for greater mental control, and stimulates certain areas of the brain while calming others. I find it very easy to shut off the mental flow and just be while meditating with Cannabis. After a particular stage this state becomes permamnent, with or without the herb. This isn't to condone it as a cruch of any kind, but it has great validity as a teaching aid.
From Liber Aleph:
"
DE VIA SOLA SOLIS.
This is the Profit of mine Intoxication of this Holy Herb, the Grass of the Arab, that it has shewed me this Mystery (with many others) not as a new Light, for I had that aforetime, but by its swift Synthesis and Manifestation of a Long Sequence of Events in a Moment, I had Wit to analyse this Method, and to discover its Essential Law, which before had escaped the Focus of the Lens of mine Understanding. Yea, o my Son, there is no true Path of Light, save that which I have formerly made plain; yet in every Path is Profit, if thou be cunning to perceive it and to clasp it. For we win Truth oftentimes by Reflection or by the Composition and Selection of an Artist in his Presentation thereof, when else we were blind thereunto; lacking his Mode of Light. Yet were that Art of none avail unless we had already the Root of that Truth in our Nature, and a Bud ready to flower at the Summoning of that Sun. In Witness, nor a Boy nor a Stone hath Knowledge of the Sections of a Cone, and their Properties; but thou mayst teach hese to the Boy by right Presentation, because he hath in his Nature those laws of Mind that are consonant with our Art Mathematical, and hath Need only of the Fledging (I may say his) so that he apply them consciously to the Work, when all being in Truth, that is, in the necessary Relations that rule our Illusion, he cometh in Course to Apprehension. "Any serious practicioner of Magick who intends to experiment with Cannabis should study the above.
As far as perceptual distortion is concerned, it is not unusual to hallucinate under the influence of Cannabis. Remember, the more you make of it, the more it becomes.
The herb acts upon the pleasure centers of the brain, so that any stimulus is greatly enhaced: such things as food, sex, and music become more enjoyable, and sensual impressions are magnified. Habitual users are often fond of cookies.
Here in California, sympathetic medical Cannabis laws have made it possible for me to conduct intensive studies of different strains/preparations/etc. The herb has great value not only from a medical perspective, but spirtually as well. Holy men in India have used it for thousands of years as an aid to Enlightenment.
Of course, "everything in moderation." As far as these sensations are concerned, what sort of preparation are you using?

i wouldnt call myself a psychonaut, but ive considered taking the path if i can ever get ahold of any damn friggin mushrooms around this place lol, but i do know of it a bit, im a member of forum at <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.psychonaut.com">www.psychonaut.com</a><!-- w --> , there are a few thelemites on there that go that route as many other brilliant minds that i benifit from do.
i came across the site almost 2 years ago searching for the Ebook Liber Null and Psychonaut, which has the kick ass mars invoking ritual i would love to do, but my wife would castrate me if i carved symbols in my chest."

perceptual yes, but also i would say dizzy, but more like after i took a couple vikadan, like everything, mentaly and a lil physically, if youve read Robert Bruce's book Astral Dynamics, when he projects and slipts his consciousness into twoo, a lil of that weird ill fealing without seeing front two sets of eyes lol.

wtf? explain? like a permenent enlightened state?
"

besides checking that all responsibilities are taken care of for the day, and when ppl go to bed, sitting confortably on the porch and lighten up, nothing else realy, what should i be doing? lol"
-
I have had both good and bad results from experiments with cannabis during meditation and ritual. It can be a great aid, but also tend towards distraction.
Additionally, rigorous use of the magickal diary lets one know when one is becoming too much of a stoner.

"Really listen to a podcast from a Zen monastry?
(get something to eat)
Really think about the podcast from the Zen monastry?
(get something to drink)
See where you are after that. shrug Smile
What?? I just understand the monks better when I'm stoned! lol."
lmao! sounds about right

Living in California, I don't share your difficulties. But I sympathize. You'll find them when you're ready.
"wtf? explain? like a permenent enlightened state? "
Yes. Everything suddenly became "clear." This was also coupled with some very unusual circumstances, however, which I am not at liberty to discuss.
"besides checking that all responsibilities are taken care of for the day, and when ppl go to bed, sitting confortably on the porch and lighten up, nothing else realy, what should i be doing? lol"
By "preparation" I meant "what sort of pot,"--when it comes to Cannabis, strain and potency are key factors. But having a good in environment is good as well.
"And of course "The Psychology of Hashish" which is a bit more clear on the subject and goes far more in depth. "
Good point. Forgot about that one.
"What?? I just understand the monks better when I'm stoned! lol."
Me too. I had a stoned epiphany listening to Alan Watts on the radio the other day. He was talking about relationships, and how everything is defined by everything else. Got me thinking... Then I pigged out on sushi, and "saw that it was good."

That's interesting (the Watts lecture). I have been working on an essay arguing for an "ontology of relation", where instead of objects being ontologically primary, being defined by sets of properties, and finally recognized as laying in relations, we reverse the notion and claim "to exist is to lay in relation" and then define objects via the relations they lay in (including properties, such as "A is red to X, where X=sighted observers with optical capabilities within such and so parameters").

I have always found that it assists in visualizations, raising their intensity.
I often view smoking some of the herb as a meditation. A shift of perspective, and for me, a returning to a more innocent and unbiased perceptiveness.
How are you smoking it?
-
ya, it does alot of inhancing, but what i hate is if that the invironment and setting isnt just right, distraction is a big problem and kills the buzz for me, it sucks when you dont get much privacy from people who live with you, its like the high intensifies everything mentally for me so if the preperation isnt right its hard to keep the mind from wandering to annoying deep thoughts.
i dont know what kind i smoke, all i know is that it is good high grade florida home grown mary-jane, pure, not laced, and i usually smoke it in my special wooden bowl.

"I find a pure Sativa the best. Indica, Ruderalis and different blends have more of an effect on the body, but something like 'silver haze' seems to have a purely mental effect. People don't tend to grow this for commercial sale though - too little a yeild."
'Tis a matter of preference really. Indica, for me, goes well with morning coffee, and I tend to accomplish more under its influence. Sattiva, as well as certain hybrids, tends to make me very hungry, and then sleepy. Great for late night pancakes; bad for meditation.
For meditative purposes, a good strain of hashish is perhaps best, or any refined preparation for that matter.
Here in California our "Medical Cannabis" dispensaries are chock full of strains with amusing names like "Green Crack" and "Blue Ape," etc. Besides this interesting phenomenon, it's now very easy and very legal to grow one's own herb. As soon as I get a proper space, I intend to grow a crop in a Magically consecrated environment, in tune with lunar cycles and such. Little details make all the difference.

ya i dont know if there is even a name for the strain i smoke, maybe i could ask but i dont know, right now in florida its a bit difficult enough to keep a good contact, nonetheless trying to find it locally.
at the moment hashish is a bit expensive for me, including any high quality strain, maybe in the next couple years when they legalize it somewhere it might get cheaper for higher grade strains , but its doubtful.
but anywho, any good tips for meditating on it? the kind i get feels as if it affects are more mental.

I find that it intensifies whatever I'm experiencing. So if I want to veg out and eat a bunch of food, that's what I'll end up doing (to excess). If I want to do something useful, I set up my "work area" in advance so I can immediately get cracking at it. I have to plan ahead to avoid distractions.
It might be useful to anchor your concentration, with a tarot card for example, and let your mind follow the rabbit hole.
And you want to take good notes, so that you can evaluate your findings in the light of sobriety, and so that if you do learn something useful, it's not just lost to forgetfulness.

For those interested
there is a little book on the market called Cannabis Spirituality by Stephen Gaskin. I have inherited a few libraries (I help people with estates) and got this from one of them. Not very deep or profound but seems to have good information on meditation, guidlines, things to look out for, children.....13 guidelines for sanity and safety.
I have expierenced a vision like the one you stated about the Matrix, I was not on drugs, but had been recovering from an illness. It was the most fascinating thing I have ever seen for it was as if I was watching the fabric of time and space weave reality right before my eyes, line by line, very similiar to computer code. This was before I had seen the movie too.
Smoking is a very sacred act, and can inhance our lives on so many levels. I am planning on holding a pipe ceremony at my home this spring as well as an Inepi (Sp?? sweat lodge). I am very much looking forward to this as my mentor in the Wolf Clan is moving and this will be our last time together for a while.

"This 'matrix' thingy that you both see... thinking about it - like the air moving all multicoloured and swirly? Usually seen in low light conditions? Purple aura's around tree's at dusk?"
no, i know what you are refering too which ive experienced to an extent, but that is something else.
by meaning of 'matrix', if you havent watched the first movie, its look s alot like a transparent bubble rippling through reality, but expanding and then contracting, like also when neo fly's he kneels and reality 'bends' into ripples, emanating.
check that link out, and you will see what i mean with all the ripples.
(although when under the influence of high, you do tend to perceive more colors)

"The aura of people on cannabis is usually larger than normal. Expanded. Not early as much as those taking LSD where the hallucination of the 'breathing room' is common - (the room breaths in and out as you do). People have such interesting hallucinations! I've never been able to do it myself. Maybe your matrix experience is a scaled down version of the breathing room experience?"
i hardly see auras, pictures come to me in my mind mentally when a shift in consciousness occurs, but not lucid ones yet anyways.
the closest ive come to yet seeing auras in the white etheric plasma that surrounds the outline of the body, but no colors yet, but dusk and early dawn i can see auras on tree a lil, and most things when the like is dim enough or agaisnt a solid color, but yet just the white stuff, not color yet .it probly is a scaled down version of the breathing room. as for you not experiencing trippy stuff as such, i dont know how your environment is to see if something could be change might help, but try to get into something natural, mind screwing. with me, im not the type to look of funny videos and or such entertaining things when im high, for me its all about the experience and what i get out of it, and there is A LOT to get out of the mental twilight mind screwing zone .
my setting and general likes accustom to cannabis is, trippsy techno(goa trance, good one here...www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WyINyYRsCI&feature=PlayList&p=7F148ED195E9F6EE&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=46) thats trippy, plus death metal and black metal, (sceptic flesh, Anubis www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdxvCgWxlNY)(and behemoth, at the left hand ov god www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii1SvUK-yCw , lyrics are an invocation of the snake and lion, [abraxas/behemoth])
and ofcourse being outside even if its on your porch or whatever, go into a stare, (i experience the trippy stuff with eyes open mostly, sometimes closed) trippy movies like queen of the damned, incense is good.anything taboo that can part the veils with that shamanic sense of shifting from one way of seeing things to another(self imposed god form?). but feal free to check out the links, even if its not your tatste im your you will get the picture.

For those of you on your "Vision Quest":
"By doing certain things certain results will follow; students are most earnestly warned against attributing objective reality or philosophic validity to any of them."
Obviously, when one ingests any sort of mind-altering substance, various spatial distortions/cosmic thingamabobs/visions/little green men wil manifest. What of it? Such things, in the last estimate, are little more than distractions upon the path. Instead of "whoa, what are all these pretty lights?!?!" the questions should really be: "How does this impact my Will?" "How does this substance allow me to realize my Will?" I've seen too many people get all google-eyed about their visions and wind up in the nut house.
While it is good for the young to experiment with their minds and bodies, there is a time to play, and a time to get down to business. Sure, it's fun to get stoned; I do it all the time. But it's important not to lose sight of one's true objective. Cannabis is a tool and a means, not an end in itself.
"I used to do Heroin (was addicted for years) and I found that the point in which one "nods" is an amazing aid for Meditation. I, of course, do not condone this nor am I telling anyone to go out and get opiates, I am just stating my opinion from what I know. I could see why Crowley used it so often with his followers at The Abbey. "
When I was stuck in purgatory (rehabilitation) there was this orange-clad monk who would come to class on Tuesdays. Those who stayed for meditation would get extra credit. So there I'd be, high on oxycotin, like one of those bobble toys on the dashboard--bob, bob, bob. Sure, it helps with meditation--until you run out, that is. Opiate withdrawals are the worst feeling I've ever experienced. In the end, meditation is best accomplished straight and sober.
Anybody here read "Diary of a Drug Fiend"? It's important, when taking any substance, to act in accordance with one's Will.

I've found that cannabis is only useful for meditation when you haven't had it for a while.
As soon as you get into the "stoner's" way of life (e.g. number one sign: putting one together first thing upon waking ) then cannabis is TERRIBLE for meditation, really, really counterproductive. As tolerance sets in, and your body is awash with cannabinoids, the background feeling becomes the very opposite of the alertness and vibrancy required for meditation. Also, one becomes very lazy and procrastinating, which is a *generally *bad thing for a magician. You get great ideas, but you never put them - or any other ideas, for that matter - into practice. At best, it's possible to *function *in life as a "stoner", but that's really scraping the barrel of what's possible for a life.
But in that "first flush" - for a few days, maybe - yes, I think it can be a very powerful aid, just as AC puts it in that extraordinary essay.

My expierence of this matrix could be likened to being inside of a waterfall. There was depth, as if the air it self was getting thicker, mulitdemnsional . There was also a sensation of atoms condensing/ coelessing as they decended into the gravitational pull, and other atoms/molecules shifting around, sort of like that old computer game with the falling blocks that need to be fit together.
I tried to take the best advantage of the situation, I had thet feeling that at this moment I was very clearly at the point in which I could bring tangible changes to my life. I focused my intent upon what it was that I wanted to bring into my world, and it worked. I have attempted to regain this vision a few other times, with much less of a degree of sucess but seem to be able to shift close to it when I can have a significant period of quiet. I like to think that at this time, I am in a very real way walking between the worlds, and can access my dna to bring about changes in my physcial being.
