What is the significance of Malkuth being called the "Gate of Tears" ? is it some kind of alchemical reference?

The "gate" reference is common to many Malkuth titles, and coincides with ShOR, "gate," being a rearrangement of the letters of the Hebrew word for "ten," OShR. Malkuth is the Gate.

The "tears" part, I think, is simply saying what Buddha mean in saying that all of existence is sorrow: In the realm of sensory life, characterized by impermanance and change, experience is sorrowful.
