Is there an easy way, or (trick) to memorize the planetary hours? And is there a sunrise time pattern I could go by? And lastly are there any good programs that displays what planetary hour it is? I ask the questions becuase in the recent week I wonder how the planetary energies affect my moods ect.. in daily/hourly life. It just suddenly seems interesting to me.

First, the easy part: There is nothing if any value to planetary hours. They're bogus.

Second... well, I guess now there isn't a second.

😞 Bummer. Then why the hell would people throw and chart in their book, and say: "It is best to do such and such at this time". ?????

The reason for they're popularity in some quarters is laziness. It requires no real (significant) astrological calculation.

Could you then explain the astrological calculation's used in Thelema? And how to obtain which sign is in the sun, or however it's done, for whatever time it is?

Do you have 776 1/2? In Chapter 16 I dedicated several pages to that question.

It does seem (from superficial clues) that you need more of a basic grounding in astrology than you have. (For example, you refer to a sign being "in the sun," etc., which is inconsistent with any astrological usage.) It is very hard to explain the particulars if you don't already have astrological basics (including calculation basics) under your belt.

The gist is: Annual tides are based on the solar declination (essentially seasonal rhythms, but broken down more finely than that). Monthly tides are based primarily on lunar phase. Weekly tides are based on planetary symbolism of day of the week unless overwhelmed by planetary aspects in space or to your natal chart. Diurnal tides are based primarily on when individual planets come to the horizon or meridian, and on the Tattwa tides.

wow, that's alot of tides, and I do not have a grounding in astrology at all. I'm more or less nervous as to which author, book, yada yada. Especially when I came to this online community, agreeing with the fact Sidreal is more correct then tropical astrology, dont ask me how, I dont know 😀 , but there realy arent any books on sidreal astrology. So I've avoided up to this day. I do have a few books on astrology, only one I have read a little. Ofcourse I havent studied them because I dont know if they are good or crap books. Astrology and it's author's are not my forte, yet.
So here is a list of what I got collecting dust on my shelf. If any you, or anyone else on this forum recognize as a good source for the subject, then please point me to it so I can start 😀 .

                Graphic Astrology - McCaffery
The Anotomy of Fate - Halevi
                Cosmic Astrology - Wakefield
A handbook for the humansitic astrologer - Micheal. R. Meyer
An astrology primer for the millions - Carl Payne Tobey
                Simplified Scientific Ephemeris 1920 - 1979, and 1990 - 1999 - The Rosicrucian Fellowship
Tables of Houses, LAT. 0 to 60. - The Rosicrucian Fellowship
Aspects to Horoscope Angles - Vivia Jayne
An Astrological Mandala : The cycle of transformations and its 360 degree symbolic phases. - Dane Rudhyar
The Practical Astrologer - Campion Abrams

Any good book will show you both how to draw up a chart and explain to you the essential characteristics of each sign. Or you can use any of the multitude of free or paid programs out there to draw the chart for you. If you want to know some tips on how to read an astrological chart in the sidereal vein, check out Jim's solunars.net which has some pretty good tips on how to read a chart. Actually, there is just ALOT of info in general on there about sidereal. Well, it appears it's down right now...but whenever it comes back up.

                    Alias55A,

only Rudhyar from that list can be usefull - but he's a tropicalist.

there's no book with Western Sidereal approach for total beginners, as far as I know.
but you could obtain Sidereal Ephemeris (and some good astrology software) and firmly ground yourself in basic astrological concepts (= know what is what, and understand the relation of every one of these basic astrological concepts to every other ).

I would recommend reading ''Astrology for beginners'' first, or some encyclopedia (maybe this www.4shared.com/document/lEekXwzQ/James_R_Lewis_-The_Astrology.html ) to gain basic knowledge - of course, some kind of systematic approach when reading this is needed. for example you can go like this:
1.constellations - what are they, their meaning in astrology and all the astronomy data necessery; read Fagan's ''Astrological origins'' (I still haven't read it myself, but have seen the review and I think one could use it regardless of previous astrology experience/knowledge)
                    2.planets
                    3.aspects
                    4.houses

Personally I recommend The Only Way to Learn Astrology by Marion D. March and Joan McEvers. The work is done in several step by step volumes. It is a very well written step-by-step approach written by not only astrologers (as any good work on astrology of course should be), but students of teach theory. You can't go to far wrong when actual teachers are teaching.

I haven't read it. I did peruse it on Amazon a bit and had to have it. It turned me on... lol...

Sometimes I wonder if the difference between the Sidereal zodiac and the Tropical zodiac could be considered the difference between two different tides. Perhaps the two tides coincided during the time of Ptolemy - call it the Perfect Storm Theory. I don't know...

The best way to learn Astrology it is to keep a constant and vigilant record of the astrological positions along with one's journal entries.

Besides providing a grounding in discipline, you will find yourself understanding the Correspondences in an intuitive manner.

Remember that Astrology is a science, and so requires as much patience and application as any other science.

This being done, there will come a day when you wake up in the morning, check the planetary positions for the day, and seeing that Mercury is square to the Moon in your fourth house you will say: "Ah, I should avoid any chance encounters with livestock this afternoon!"

I avoid a great deal of trouble this way. 😀

In truth, Tropical Astrology doesn't exist, even according to Ptolemy.

All very great responses, and i do enjoy all the advice, but should I just pick one of my books and study it? even though there not sidreal I should learn the basics and some foundatinos of astrology right? At this time I wont be able to get another book for a while, so im kinda stuck with what I have.

Here's a link to a great, free, online clock. You have to do your own interpretations though.

                              www.marklipson.com/jastro

Tropical is the default. To change to Sidereal, pull down the menu at the bottom right and change it to "Fagan-Br."

Astrolog has been around for quite some years. It doesn't have any fancy built in interpretation/chart building functions but it has a robust calculation engine with lots of functions, including working in sidereal and it's free 😄
