I have a question concerning column XI in 777. I am confused what the attributions of the planets listed with the zodiac mean. For nstance, Aries, being firey has the symbols of Sol on the left, and Jupiter on the right and so on. Crowley gives an odd explanation of these which I have never encountered in astrological writings. Could anyone elaborate on this for me?

Also, there is no attribution of the elements given to the planets, am I to suppose these are "as for the Sephiroth?"

For the last question - exactly. Elemental attributions to planets are handled differently in different contexts, but the primary one is "according to the Sephiroth." Sun and Moon are Air, Venus and Mars are Fire, Mercury and Jupiter are Water, and Saturn is potentially Water but mostly given Earth.

For your first question, these are the planets said to rule, or characterize, the four triplicities of the zodiac according to Ptolemy in his Tetrabiblos. Centuries later, these triplicities (in the Tropical zodiac) were associated with the alchemical Elements. These basically mean that Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are, as a set, said to be of the nature of the Sun and Jupiter; Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, treated together, are of the nature of Venus and the Moon; Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius of the nature of Mercury and Saturn; and Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces share characteristics of Mars.
