I had written a post a couple weeks ago about some confusion about, or perhaps more accurately, difficulty relating to the prince of disks (or any disk card for that matter). By nature, I am pathologically living in the element of air. Incessantly thinking and not enough action. I am currently awaiting my status of acceptance into a graduate school and at the same time, seeking different employment. Here lies the conundrum, I feel the wind being taken out of my hunt for employment if I might start a graduate program next year.

To help me put some direction in my thoughts, I defaulted and consulted the Thoth Tarot. Two weeks ago, I pulled a single card, while simply asking "what should I focus on at this point in my life?" It was the Prince of Disks. I wondered if it was trying to tell me to stop thinking about school and focus more on career. The next day I asked for clarification again. I shuffled the deck and got Two of Disks. Yesterday, I consulted the deck again, asking for a focus card, shuffled, and pulled the two of disks again. Today, I asked for focus again, shuffled, and pulled the knight of disks. At this point I am really not understanding what this message is. I asked for more clarification. I shuffled and pulled the Queen of Disks. Frustrated, I simply said "What does this mean?" and pulled The Fool.

I feel that there is something that is being shouted at me but someone speaking a foreign language. Had it been any other suit I think I could get it. Any outside perspective?

If you're a farmer (which is a compatible metaphor to the suit of disks), then you know that you need to do your part, preparing the ground, planting, and watering at the right time. But you also know that you need to walk away and let the sun and rain take care of the rest.

Sounds to me like you've done your work for graduate school. Now you have to wait for it to see if it will yield a good harvest. It could go either way, right?

It certainly doesn't hurt to plant a different crop, aka 'the job search'. And then, at harvest time, you can worry about which crop you'll take to the market. 😀

Once you're done with planting your employment seeds, be sure to enjoy physical reality; exercise, eat, work with your hands, get outside, etc. 😀

I would say (off the cuff):

Pursue the task at hand (getting a job). Do what you can do at each point in time (the task of the day, not the task of a lifetime). In 30-45 days, circumstances will have changed such that the question is different.

This is what I what I feel like it is telling me. Almost like I have spun the wheel now I need to wait and see where it lands. But in the meantime, it doesn't hurt to have a couple other wheels going in case I don't like where the first one lands 😉. Thank you. Everything you mentioned " be sure to enjoy physical reality; exercise, eat, work with your hands, get outside, etc." is exactly what I have been trying to do. Getting out of the head and into the body. Although I fail often, my life has taken on so much more color just by practicing.

Thanks Jim. As usual your advice rings of truth. Focusing on the task of the day.. and even moment to moment is a muscle that I have been focusing on strengthening the past year. Reminding myself that peace and fulfillment never came through "lust of result".

I started laughing before I read the last card. I knew what it was going to be.

    Stop thinking.
