The Wand

Different wands for different purposes. (The G.D. had several varieties, with distinctive characteristics. for example.) I've made various ones over the decades.
That being said... there's something megacool about having one according to those specs.
PS - That's specifically an A.'.A.'. wand. Aside from any personal impact, it's part of a coordinated set of symbols that binds one more tightly within the specific egregore of that system.
-
Now THAT one puts the "M" in "Megacool"!
Is that a wand custom built to specs? For instance, I had heard creating your own wand - versus buying one off the shelf at your local Thelema outfitter - was part of the magickal process.
Very nice meeting you a couple of weeks ago, btw.

Custom made.

Jim, is that a copper rod or copper pipe behind that well-crafted flame?
I've heard different sources about weather to use a copper rod or copper pipe.
What would you suggest?

Rod. I thought of using pipe (nice, cheap, light-weight), but it would have melted quickly even with soldering.
The head is supposed to be gold. That much gold was prohibitively expensive. So I went with having it molded in silver, and then multi-layer gold-plated using a rhodium bond between. (Rhodium is in the platinum family - essentially a Kether metal.) So I have the metals of the Sun and Moon bonded with a transcendant Kether idea interfacing - nice symbolism.
Over the decades, the gold has worn away in places just enough to give it really character - like worn leather - different thicknesses of the layers of gold.

I bet it reflects the changes you went through your magical life while using it. Very nice piece of equipment, if I may say so.
I am working right now on crafting a wand. It is nearly impossible to find cheap copper pipes. I've checked in the local hardware stores and whatnot.
Is this a worthy piece of copper to start a wand with? www.speedymetals.com/pc-2939-8206-14-rd-ca-110-copper.aspx
The specs are here: www.speedymetals.com/information/material14.html
It says it's a "tough pitch copper alloy", but doesn't say what other metal is in it.
Do you have a good source for copper rods?
-
That wand dates back over 20 years. I wouldn't know where to start looking today.
Liber A does say 1/2" for the rod.
-
Aaah yes.
I do thank you, sir Jim.
G'night.
