So, for a particular ritual I've been searching far and wide for a source of Galbanum to no avail.
It's been quite frustrating. If anyone here knows any sources that may have some please PM me,
otherwise if you believe you know of substitute that would work then let me know.

    Thanks,
    Ian

Is Nuit Unlimited still in business? Gerald del Campo, who started the business, used to have some great Galbanum incense. (I still have about half a bottle of it.)

I've found some information on him, interesting character and we agree on one thing for sure.
I'm just trying to find a supplier of basically everything that's closer to us (Southern California).
So far, I have a phone number and an address but as far as an online store or anything I haven't
been able to come up with much else other than the former information.

What are you looking for? Resin, oil, joss sticks? This plant can run pretty pricey depending on what you want. As you are in S CA. I would imagine a good Latino Bontantica, an Near Eastern, Middle Eastern, and oriental suppliers would have the resin and sticks. Many American companies(young living is one). Sells the oils but IMO they are ridiculously priced.

I found quite a few very promising hits on google, try the shopping tab in a google keyword search.

The problem I ran into is that all the distributors are "Sold Out." This is because the actual variety needed for "The Holy Oil" is an Iranian native plant. Not many westerners do business with Iran these days.

I could definately see that as an issue. Yet I have a very sneaky suspicion that the American Iranian immigrants are still bringing it in to the USA, as it is so important, And also hot house cultivating it. I always have had good luck when looking for some obscure thing, in going to the source.

Which then in this case maybe a Muslim mosque supply house, what ever they maybe called.

I do vaguely remember getting a recommendation awhile ago to check out the little mom and pop stores in Little Tehran (LA's Westwood) since they do tend to stock ritual oils and incenses from home. This wasn't specific to galbanum but, if you're in SoCal, that might not be a bad place to start. At worst, you'll have a pleasant afternoon wandering around the "bazaar" which you can follow with some great Persian food.
