Currently, I've been delving into writings that are touching upon the Coptic
grimoire tradition as well as the gnostic teachings of Abrasax. I can't help
but feel that there is a connection between these two words. Anyone care to
elaborate? Is this arbitrary? Or is there a correlation?

Historically, there probably was a connection between Abracadabra and Abrasax (or, rather Abraxas - the X, taken as a Chi, could have easily been mis-written as Abracas.)

This likely has no historically relation to Crowley's new formula, Abrahadabra, though.

Just to play devil's advocate, what exactly is it's context in the Gnostic Mass if this is true?
Just wondering, I can grasp that it can still be unrelated but I can't help but wonder.

Solar cock. Sun god, whose name (by Greek gematria) reflected the solar cycle of 365 days.

Eeek, I meant Vav and Peh, not Vav and Nun. And yes I have read S. Yetzirah several times and ironically
may have initially confused the Nun with Vav for some reason (I'm out of it today). Just curious if Crowley and
the A.'.A.'. have another context other than what this has to offer.

    Sorry about that,

    Ian

No. (Or: Still haven't a clue what you're looking for. The question is insufficiently specific.)

PS - This is for the other thread, right? The Vav-Nun thread? Not this one?

Peh's main relationship to Vav is that Mars is in its detriment in Taurus, i.e., Taurus is one of the three least-Mars signs in the zodiac.

I apologize, yes it was for the Vav-Nun question.
Sorry, I'm just out of sorts today.
