"Of course. (It won't have the extras, such as the four-colored anniversary dedication page, gold edging, bookmark, etc., but I'd be happy to sign it.)
Order it fro mC.O.T. directly from helema.org/publications/776.html and specify in the order that you'd like it autographed."
Thanks Jim, im just waiting on some funds then i will grab a copy.

Very well written Jim, i like how you open with the part on procreation. I had never thought of it like that as i just assumed we would have always known the purpose for sex. But what you say makes sense.
Looking forward to the release.

I saw that Jim but was wondering if it was possible to get a signed copy not in leather?

"There are two editions of this book, a standard edition and a deluxe edition.
The standard edition has been manufactured to the same specifications as the hardcover edition of The Mystical & Magical System of the A.'.A.'., which many of you have: Acid-free paper, boards, and cloth and superior binding. This is manufacturing intended to last for a century. (For those who know the language: Smyth-sewn casebound with cloth over binder boards, and other nice touches similar to M&MAA.) Retail price: USD $49.
The limited deluxe edition consists of 156 numbered, signed copies with premium design and manufacturing. The inside is the same (so really, there's no need to spend the extra money if all that matters to you is the content). The outside, though, will be quite different: A red bonded leather hardcover with gold foil stamping, gilded page edges, Rainbow end leaves, and a mounted bookmark ribbon. Retail price: USD $156.
Some copies of the standard edition were made available the first week of March at an event in New York City. Copies are presently stocked by Enchantments:
www.enchantmentsincnyc.com
www.facebook.com/pages/New-York-NY/Enchantments-Inc/85037528005?ref=
The remainder of the stock is due to arrive in Los Angeles on Monday, March 22. You can purchase both the standard and deluxe editions from College of Thelema directly from our Publications page: helema.org/publication
Amazon is taking pre-publication orders for the standard edition, and will have the book in stock about a week after we get hold of it. Here is their direct link: www.amazon.com/776%C2%BD-Practical-Ceremonial-James-Eshelman/dp/0970449623
To order the Deluxe Edition: The deluxe edition is available only by direct order from C.O.T. This is a numbered limited edition, and you may request what numbered copy you get if it is still available. When placing your order, you may specify (in order of your preference) three preferred numbers between 1-156. You will receive your requested number if available, otherwise you will get the next available number in sequence.
For orders from C.O.T., Shipping/Handling is paid by us for US domestic priority mail on all orders over $30. For international shipping or alternate (expedited) shipping terms, please write us first (see helema.org/publication)."
This book sounds great and i could sure use it as 777 is complex. I have one question though, do we have to be exploiting animals just for a delux edition of a book? Is it possible to do away with the leather and bound in something else?
Cheers, Ian

Ok.? . So does anyone "actually" use acid in place of water? seriously! I can see the logic: Oh some water spelt on me, ile try next time. Vs. Oh S**T this acid is burning me! Lets not do it again. It reminds me of when Crowley mentioned how the monks would slap the pupils if they even saw there eye twitch. Mabye through pain we make less mistakes hopefully."
Even if you could balance an open jar of acid on your head the vapours would likely fry your lungs and burn your eyes.
I used to acid wash swimming pools when i was younger not the best job in the world. Had to use chemical masks.

"How does one know that they have mastered asana? I dont get the pins/needles, flaming heat energyies, or much of the nubmy legs, twiching, itchiing, and what not. In less then 5 minutes I am completely still and it feels realy good, comfortable, although my mind still chats a bit."
I saw i documentary some time ago which featured a mystic from india. He had been performing a form of asana non-stop for over 10 years. He was holding his left arm up in the air as a devotion to a god. The arm had become very deformed and most likely fused at the shoulder joint. That is devotion to the extreme.

"this is just a quick question to anyone who'ld like to have a go on the matter.
i'm interested to hear other peoples opinions of drug use during magick ritual/meditation/spellworking.
i ask this because,i've been a proud pothead since my early teen years (those scare vids they showed us only made us wanna hoot even more),and in my 20s lived a sort of...hunter thompson gone hardcore punk-lifestyle,for which i'll state i have absolutely no regrets.had it not been for these wilder days,i may never have realized christianity was a clawhammer to the soul.
but my most in tune moments within my spiritual self have always been when i'm high, and my first true moment of connection with something of a higher power came during an lsd session,a night that changed my life and began my trip to where i am now, here on this site, finally able to access like minded people with far more experience than i have.
anyone with an opinion please let me know, pro or con."

i want to start my own job and blah blah blah be an adult so it can get me closer to learning more of Thelema but i feel like time is too precious to waste putting thelema behind my comfort level.
at this point i feel like attempting to hitch hike all the way to california from minnesota is my safest and most responsible action i could take.
i need some input or something..... i really hope that i actually can read a reply to this ,because at this point i'm virtually clueless hopeless and aimless..

"Hi everyone!
I'm Orione. I am from the Netherlands and I have registered to learn more about Thelema and related subjects.
Some background: I was raised part catholic, part agnostic, which has given me a sense of mystery and ritual as well as a general skeptisism towards everything (including mystery and ritual ).
In my teens I became interested in Wicca, but I quickly figured out that the Wiccan Rede did not fit the laws of the universe as I perceived them to be.
Crowley was actively feared in the circles I was in and the little that I knew about him and his works seemed to confirm that he ought to be feared. I was really drawn to the Toth tarot deck however, and this scared me to no end. One day I decided to purchase it anyway, fully expecting to have a good look at it, decide that it was both 'too scary' and 'so-not-for-me' and get the deck out of my system (& into the trash can ). Needless to say that my other decks have been gathering dust since that day - about 10 years ago.
I have since become less skeptical about Crowley's works and have been studying them on and off. I adore his writing styles in (for example) the book of Toth, Magic without Tears, and the Eight Lectures on Yoga. It is friendly, witty and it's like learning about the universe from your favourite grandfather. But I still have quite a lot of trouble reading Liber AL and works like that with their bombastic language. (I hope I don't offend anyone by that admission.) Yet his more accessible works have shown me that he absolutely knows what he is talking about and I keep coming back to them to learn more. I feel that I should get over myself and start studying the more 'difficult' works too. (If anyone has any tips for this, I am very open to them!)
So, I have decided that it's time to stop this "will I, won't I" kind of relationship I have had with Thelema study for the last 10 years, and I have decided that indeed "I will". As a first act of getting more serious about it, I have registered here. I am impressed with the level of intelligent feedback that is given here and I hope to learn a lot from being a member.
Thank you for reading!

"You seem to be missing basic rudiments of magical training"
I belong to the Sink Or Swim Order. They took my dues and embraced me as a brother, but when the ordeals started, they stopped answering emails. (I would like to take this moment and thank JAE and ToT for being the only online forum that has been able to give concrete feedback to real problems and questions relating to the legacy of Aleister Crowley).
I like the radio frequency analogy. Part of my problem is the fact I have no interest in working with demonic entities, but am more interested in working with the 4 elements, 7 planets, stars. So the idea of calling up some principle, requesting a wish, and sending it away, still feels odd for me. I see myself more as a channel for invoked energies. My emphasis has been more on finding the right ingredients for a discernible manifestation of energy â placing emphasis on pronounciation and vibration of divine names, emotional investment, visualization and alignment with True Will.
I did notice one interesting thing in your comment that might explain why I operate the way I do. Its a fact that I shut off my inner dialogue nearly 20 years ago and its, more or less, stayed that way ever since. I don't regard this as a particular virtue on my part - just something that happened due to various circumstances and my history. But it makes me very aware of impressions and thoughts and events that enter my consciousness - e.g. following an invoking."
Far out, 20 years with no internal dialog. Can you explain a bit how you went about reaching that state of mind, Especially when reading txt? Im in and out of switching off that pesky critter. What about the hga?

"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
I'm at the halfway point now of a week-long self-exploration, entheogenic in practice, designed to carefully evaluate what differs between my current state of consciousness and that of a better balanced mind.
Throughout the operation, I've reached back to parts of my childhood that I've learned well not to mess with, due to their highly combustive and self-destrctive nature. My question for the readers of this thread is as simple as this: How does one "get over" a traumitizing past? Hear me out...
I repress a lot of things, and while rituals such as the LBRP may settle the commotion for the duration of a working, the background noise will always return. In my case, it's probably a therapist who would be best suited to aid me in this self-cleansing ordeal, but being that I have taken it upon myself to be the therapist, I'm beginning to backtrack.
Let's say the repressed emotion is anger; would something so simple as writing a letter and burning it work? (i.e. If such an action made the individual feel better while it was burning, would it last, truly fixing a complex?)
Would there be any particular harm in participating in some such psychodrama as LaVey's rituals (Destruction ritual, in this case) for the same purpose as burning an angry letter? Should one banish before and/or after the psychodrama? I imagine afterwards would be a necessity, to dispell the harmful energy released through the ceremony, but being that the Destruction ritual is essentially banishing by ways of the "Four Crown Princes of Hell" rather than the four Pentagrams and Archangels, wouldn't it be redundant, and thus open to error, to perform two seperate rituals for the same purpose? Or would it be like "banishing" dirt from the floor with both a broom AND a mop?
Thank you for any insight you may be able to provide.
Love is the law, love under will."
Im no expert and have plenty of issues from childhood myself, but i think asana meditation helps with anger. If you can learn to keep still for a long time you can stop anger before it takes over.

Hello all, i am new here and will post a proper intro later but wanted to reply to this thread.
I think the ordeals run smooth if you listen to the hga and do what you know/feel inside to be the right thing.
It is when you go against what you KNOW is right that the ordeals seem to reach a point of severity as the lower will fights for survival.
