sigils within sex magick
-
I've read a couple books discussing sex magick - Kraig and Frater UD. No clue how trusted they are, other than general positive feedback I see.
One technique both mention involves making a sigil for a goal. Usually by taking key letters, putting them into a glyph, and then concentrating on it during sex (or more usually, masturbation).
So - is this an effective AND safe method of getting results? Let's say I want an IPhone4 - I make a sigil out of, say, I and P and 4, then go jack off to it - pardon my french.
-
o.k., i'll bite.
you do sex magick for telephones?
-
Have you never heard of phone sex?
Seriously though - I'd appreciate someone's input towards my actual question - the efficacy and safety of this sort of sigil charging practice.

I think the sigilization technique you're describing is harmless. Years ago I worked with Austin Osman Spare's sigil magick. I must have made over 70 sigils in my past - get laid, get a better job, get a better apt, etc. None of them had any discernible effect save for one, which altered my consciousness for about 2 years and, no doubt, contributed to where I am today. My conclusion is that a person can masturbate all they want, but unless the sigilized desire happens to be in alignment with one's True Will, the effect will be neglible or nil.
Of course there are ways to improve your wish-fulling technique. Simply meditating, visualizing and holding an image or desired result for extended periods of time will improve your chances of getting that IPhone4. But if you want to do sigil magick, try to hold off as long as possible while concentrating on the wish, and try to get an emotional charge into it. Emotions are key to success. Lastly, the ejaculated sperm is now "charged" with your intent. Some people like to smear it over their sigil, to let the desire "grow", so to speak. Others consume it to reinforce their intent and not lose any force.
It wasn't until I started doing the LBRP and Middle Pillar regularly that I became aware of the negative, vampiric aspect of sex magick. If I understand it correctly, whenever you masturbate thinking of an person or object or desire, you're building astral links with that object. Most people do it unconsciously and I can't help but wonder, if most people have all this astral clutter around them, that indiscriminate and random wanking may be responsible for occluding the discovery of True Will? On the other hand, sex magick focused solely on the attainment of True Will, repeated consistently over time, would have the opposite effect, leading to radical change. Any opinions?
Also there is no such thing as privacy when performing sex magick. If you send your intent out into the Universe, you are publicizing it. So if you're a socially awkward person who performs sex magick to get laid, the targeted person will pick up on it, and just like in real life social interactions, they will probably think you're a creep. Its far better to use the technique to change yourself, get your life in order and harmony. Then everything manifests naturally.

I personally would never do that.
In my works, sex is organic, and biological and would only be used for ends that resonate with that type of energy.
But, that is just me and My style and the way I think.
Sex is sacred and where I am right now, to use it for some thing materialistic like a iPod, just wouldn't work.
It is definitely sfer then robbing a pawn shop, and if you do all the mundane work, then it may work for you.
I suppose those that if from where you sat, your point of view allowed that rational thinking then there would be no reason why it wouldn't work for you.
I personally have a few reservations about it, and like a self fulfilling prophecy, I could say that it s my own limitations not allowing me to see that I could materialize like that. -

Effective? This depends on concentration levels and focus...it is relative to your training. Unless there is intermediate success in Asana and Pranayama, most jerk off sessions will be just that. Not saying that you aren't releasing serotonin, norepinephrine, etc. into your system, while somewhat imagining certain desires: it definitely creates habit and behavior reinforcement with chemical assistance. And jerking off is fun.
I hope that's an honest enough answer.
If you want to jack off to get an IPhone4 -- try it repeatedly and see what you get. Keep good notes. And have fun while doing it! If it works, let me know...I could use one...
Is there an app for that?
FWIW -- I thought of a great idea! Make a vlog of your "findings" with actual technique videos and get people to subscribe for a small fee. You'd have that IPhone4 in no time!
PS -- I have read Frater U.'.D.'. -- he seems to be well-studied and...well...you can't fault a guy for wanting to sell books.
Honestly, training is what is needed to be effective in the pursuit of Magick...not more books. Frater U.'.D.'. would probably tell you that. Asana and Pranayama could keep one busy for years. Rituals are covered perfectly in MTP. I would imagine that you wouldn't be worried about "firing sigils" after too long...
Hope this answered some questions and made you laugh a bit.

Basically I just read the same technique in two separate books, both endorsing it. Didn't know if people use it (and leave me in the dark about it) and/or if it has bad side effects.
Funny thing is some other recent post was about excess "wanking." I guess if people are gonna do it they might as well put it to use.
-
Often when people wank they're thinking about sex. Soo, they're putting it to use.

One word of warning: SM done for personal ends tends to have the opposite effect.
True example: I perform a ritual of the kind you describe to get laid, a day later I randomly meet a comely woman at a grocery store who invites me over to her house in the woods and f-cks me silly for two days. Great, right? Yes, until her grandparents and husband arrive to find us naked in bed, and I'm chased off the property under the barrel of a 30-06. Despite my protests, the husband refused to pay me the 200$ his wife had promised me for building her a chicken coop and proceeded to walk me to the road with the deer rifle still pointed at my face. Here he left me, and I had to hitchhike to the nearest town, where I promptly bought myself a drink.
The moral? Stick to hexagrams, padawan.

Early in my magickal career I launched a sigil to get $2100. I got a $2100 credit card. Great. I lacked the discipline to manage the card properly and ran up tons of debt I ended up paying off a few years later. And it wasn't fun or easy. So, the method works. Technically it was safe. But the consequences may not be to your liking.
Edit: I should note that I've gotten numerous ipods (I've had about 4, never paid for any of them), Yankees & Mets tickets, a free skydiving trip (including the video they sell you of your dive), a Gucci wallet & countless other little material things simply by thinking of them. Sometimes with intentions but most of the time without intention. Just merely daydreaming and declaring to myself that I want x. You'd be surprised how powerful your words are, even when you're speaking to yourself in your head while you're off in la-la land.

wow that's a story to tell the grandkids there... but you must have had some brass ones to ask the husband for money - or were you trying to legitimize your presence in his household?

I built the chicked coop. They owed me money. Pretty simple.
But yes, it did help my position that I wasn't just screwing his wife, and that I'd created a new home for their fowl.

Any potential they'd actually planned this to screw you?

i agree with the atlas itch completely.
the sigil method espounded by the likes of the temple of psychic youth, grant morrison, and chaos magick, strikes me as arising from a misunderstanding of austin spare's work, and is a very ineffective technique. potentially dangerous, too, in the sense that i could easily imagine it creating negative obsessions.
it's an unfortunate reflection of human nature that most, if not all, of those who practice magick start off being at least fascinated by - if not completely hung up on - using magick to get laid, get rich, and / or curse enemies. the truth is that there are much easier and effective ways to go about this than ceremonial magick. my own opinion is that magick is about improvement of the self, and doing sigils or whatever to win the lotto or get that hot chick in local cafe to screw you strikes me as rather contrary to that.
-
And i'm not sure it's good magick to drain the pool just before you try to take a swim. (Which might have been part of your last point, Dar.)
-
@Dar said
"Older men pace themselves and their partners. Young men just want to go at it in a rush, and it's generally the younger men that will 'drain the pool' before going for a swim. There is no doubt about it - that if you start wanking off over sigils you'll probably draw your magical opposite to you, but it's also true that you'll have locked an important piece of your psyche away from her - draining the pool - that prefaces disaster for the whole enterprise because Babalon does not take half measures. Your opposite will reflect *that which made you conceal anything from her. * It's a very watery elemental response."
What does this mean? Or does draining the pool mean wanking in slang?
Or do you mean that if there's some tricks in it then the other one will uncosciously notice it, and reflect on it?

I actually understand what you're saying, but I just thought if I could've gotten it with language. Language and understanding often have a gap in my mind.
-
It's a tradition in my family, to chop things up, and then synthesize. A la Dali.
-
No, actually it's only my family.
I once went to listen to one of my father's lectures (the history of art from spiritual perspective), he'd burp at the exact point of saying something magnificent.
The Finnish way of speaking of philosophy is to not speak at all. You have to get that speaking part off - just skiing.
-
You cannot speak with a Finnish person. In a while you'll start feeling what you're doing wrong, but it's just that way. There is a very high slavic taste to my family. And there's a high determination in my family to bring everything upside down all the time, which isn't Finnish, the Finnish part in me is that I'm shy.
Check out Aki Kaurismäki as regards Finnish mentality.
