I’m drawn towards music. Themeology. Theory. Concepts. To be moved by music is to be moved by the divine.

    But

Is music actually helpful in terms of meditation

Can music be a form of prayer

I understand meditation is a form of clearing your mind of distractions
Is music one of those distractions?

There are varied points of view.

In the very beginning steps, it is best to clear all crutches and distractions, attempting to sit with oneself. As the practice develops and as skill increases, more tools and interests can be employed and explored. "Keep It Simple Stupid" is what I have to remind myself of.

Music can absolutely be a form of prayer—Native Americans, some forms of Buddhism, some forms of Christianity all adhere to this thinking.
