You get the picture? It's all based on Jesus, but each doctrine has some fine point(s) that makes it "truer" than any other doctrine.
Now, if you want to connect with the "real" A.'.A.'., just send me $666 and I'll point you in the right direction. (Ha, ha - just kidding on that one!).

The "real" A.'.A.'. is the Order of no name that has existed from the beginning of time. Any outer order flying the A.'.A.'. banner may, or may not, be linked to that supra-abyssmal organization of Magisters.
How do you tell? As Crowley said, you link up, you sign the oath(s), and if you end up in the company of charlatans, so much the worse for you.

When projecting "up" (also called "rising on the planes"), many people encounter his darkness of which you speak. It is a band of utter darkness that surrounds Earth. For the uninitiated or the "normal" person, this band, being dark and lonely, is merely a "ring-pass-not" (to use the old Theosophical term) that encourages the traveler in dreams or conscious projection to turn around and get back to familiar things. It is a form of a planetary magickal circle, and protective device, intended to keep human consciousness within the earth realm.
On the other hand, the initiate or experienced "skryer" usually passes directly through this dark band and enters the starry ("that's what "astral" means) realm.
When guiding people through "rising on the planes," and they encounter this dark band, they are to be encouraged to keeping going. In some cases, they must be talked into projecting their consciousness out ahead of them, beyond this dark band and beyond the present location of their astral vehicle, and then to catch up with that mental image. Interestingly, this (almost) always works. Out of more than 100 people (mostly beginners), I have seen about 30% of them encounter this dark band, but have only known ONE who simply could not get past the barrier.

This dark band should not be confused with the true VOID that is the goal of mystics. That VOID is nothing, but it is nothing simply because it is so high that no form exists because it is Pure Energy (accompanied by pure ecstasy).

The "dark band" surrounding earth is an artifact of the astral plane (Yesod). The VOID is beyond the Monad (Kether).

If I spoke from decades of Reiki/Empowerment/Medical experience, then perhaps I was assuming my teacher role. I believe teaching is different from condescending, for in the latter one pretends to be "better than" the recipient. I am no "better" than Modest, but I do have more experience.

Who refused anything? Nobody asked for anything, especially "treatment." One must first ask before one can be refused.
On the other hand, I indicated that the full effect would not be felt unless the recipient had already been personally "tagged" with the "absentee" symbol on-site. And since that has not occurred, then all the rest of this talk-talk is meaningless.
I did, more or less, offer to demonstrate the energy if Modest were in my presence, and you know, if he/she really wanted that demo, and would ask for directions, and was able to get here, I would happily do it.
But Modest appears to be in Lithuania, which a long ways from my abode.

You are absolutely correct, and the long-distance transmission is engaged from here on a regular basis - with sincere recipients - but certainly not with a recalcitrant participant on a semi-public forum, who has already taken a condescending position.

Also, the long-distance transmission does not move through the aethyrs in its full manifestation unless the recipient has already been in the physical presence of the transmitter and received the application of the "absentee" symbol. That's the way it works. And if whoever or whatever you checked with said this is not true, and said one can simply apply the full scope of the energies to anyone, anywhere and get the same results with a resistant recipient as with a client who has already been "pre-linked," then we can furnish you with endless lists of patients in nearby hospitals and you can go to work. Heck, why stop there? You can just broadcast the ULF to everyone on the planet and we can read about it the next day in the newspaper (or see it on CNN) when all the disease disappears.

The ULF Energy is not limited by temporal space if certain conditions are met (see above for the general outline). This entire matter revolves around the same conditions that apply to a "magickal link," and, as you have undoubtedly read in "Magick," there are some subtle factors at work in this often-misunderstood subject.

Please ensure that you know what you're talking about before you use the rolling eyes emoticon. The ability to know what is true or possible is based upon experience - not theoretical, wishful thinking. Thank you for your observation.

If you were here in my presence I could demonstrate that for you, just as I have done for many Reiki "Masters," who were all suitably impressed. There is no fantasy involved. I also have demonstrated it to about 300 of my students in medical and massage schools where I have taught. Most of those 300 also received the first empowerment ("attunement") in class without any fee. I give a lot of stuff away.

Yes, you are right. But your observations do not apply to the subjects of which I was speaking, which is (more or less) 10x but of a different quality altogether than the Reiki. As a licensed physician, I have seen this energy completely disperse cancer without any disruption, unbalancing, or other ill effects. So, perhaps you're preaching to the choir on this one.

Now you're getting things all mixed up. *One Star in Sight *very clearly states: "There is however an absolute prohibition to accept money or other material reward, directly or indirectly, in respect of any service connected with the Order, for personal profit or advantage." Please note that Reiki and/or Sirius and/or *attunements in general *and/or *Medical services *are services that are in no way "connected with the Order" known as the A.'.A.'.

I am not sure which one of my sites you are referring to. There is one site, maintained by myself as a licensed physician wherein a fee schedule for Reiki and Sirius empowerments is displayed - both a rather expensive "standard" fee schedule and a financially-impaired, discounted fee schedule which "normal" (not irresponsibly wealthy) people usually pay. As mentioned above, I have also given-away-for-free hundreds of attunements. I also list some herbs for sale at discounted rates, but that webpage is no longer even posted.
But so what? All this has absolutely nothing to do with the A.'.A.'., and all A.'.A.'. material is freely distributed by me and my associates without even the token fee usually required for Liber A, B, C, etc. So why are you in such a snit over this?

There is only ONE Reiki energy. Dr Usui (the founder) gave only ONE attunement (other people divided it up after his death).

Level ONE is the healing energy. Period.
Level TWO merely teaches one how to send the energy long-distance (and includes "creative manifestation" which could be confused with black magic). I have seen Level ONE people who can do Level TWO (send it afar) without undergoing the Level TWO ceremony (the so-called attunement).
Level THREE endows one with the ability to perform the attunements for other people (and collect the fee).
Level FOUR is another division like the one that chopped up the original single attunement. There is (theoretically) a MASTER level 3 (which is no stronger than Level ONE, and a MASTER TEACHER level 3 that some people like to call Level FOUR. I have seen Level ONE people who can perform the so-called Level 3 or 4 without undergoing the corresponding ceremony.
So in a way, your are right: For SOME people, only Level ONE is required and they seem to be able to work the rest out by themselves. But note that these people rarely experience the purging/discomfort after the Level 1 attunement. In other words, they are already "there" and are clear enough so that all they need is that initial input.
On the other hand, MOST people are stupid as a stick in these matters and they will need to pay for (and receive) all the levels.
Note that once one is past the Level 1 experience, any further training is NOT a matter of "clearing energy blocks," as all that has been dealt with already. Levels 2 & 3 merely add techniques, but do not increase the energy level.

Reiki is the McDonald's of empowerment systems. The prototype for "empowerments" (Reiki uses the word "attunement") is the Tibetan Wang (empowerment ceremony) and there are lineages available here in the west that deliver transferred healing energy abilities that are 10 times stronger than Reiki. Along these lines, I have personally been fortunate enough to receive Wang directly from Tibetan Lamas

Although the Wang are similar to initiation ceremonies and can produce quite a kick, most of the "attunmenent" lineages are stepped-down reflections of the initiatory path. Here's a quote from something I once wrote in a flyer:

"Our discussion on "Empowerment" has been limited to the transference of healing energies and the "power" to transmit those same energies to other people, in limited, safe systems of delivery. These systems are ideal for practitioners who wish to enhance their healing skills and for all people who wish to balance themselves by working with energies and consciousness.

"However, there is a deeper form of Empowerment. It is not particularly limited nor safe, for it has few fixed rules and one is exposed to all the problems in the Universe. We liken the practices of healthcare and healing energy empowerment to what the Tibetans call, "The Long Path."

"But, there is also the other path, the "Short Path," the path of self- discipline; we call it "The Path of Initiation." We merely mention it, because Sirius is a reflection of that greater endeavor.

"In all, there are nine Levels of Sirius Empowerment, five Veil Openings, and three Enhancements."

Note that, unlike Reiki, Sirius offers progressively more expanded energy at each level. That is, Level 1 is physical energy (Malkuth), Level 2 is astral/emotional (Yesod), Level 3 is concrete mental (intellectual - Hod), Level 4 is manipulative mental (philosophical - Netzach), etc. Sirius degrees follow the Tree of Life, but they are NOT the A.'.A.'. initiations - they are stepped-down reflections of that system.

I am not trying to sell Sirius, I am simply giving food for thought and an indication of what's available along the Reiki lines.

Also, in a similar vein, SOME people only require a Neophyte 1=10 degree and all the rest unfolds. Even Perdurabo went thru the Neophyte ceremony, then streaked up through the other token outer order grades, attained to Tiphereth, and then overthrew the whole system in favor of a cleaner approach. In all this, he seems to have required that first initiation bestowed by Mathers, et al, and some personal input from his true mentor, Alan Bennett. Other than that, he probably didn't need help, initiations, attunements, or donations from anyone else. Well, yeah, there was Aiwass.

But there are very few initiates who make progress on the path who have not received at least the initial impulse (first degree) from someone else. Those who attempt "self-initiation" without (at least) that first, formal "zap" from another (and higher) initiate are usually deluding themselves. It just don't happen - except in rare circumstances, like true Avatars.

So (again) you are right. You can do it yourself (if you have the inherent capacity), but most cannot (because they have a lot more work to do). It all depends on who you are and (especially) who you were and what you had already accomplished before you elected or re-elected or were drafted to join the human race.

How do I know these things? I am an Independent Reiki Master Teacher, A Sirius Initiator, and an A.'.A.'. guy, and it is my pleasure to lay out some of these rather obscure concepts for your perusal.

Yes it's a book. No, you won't find it on Amazon or anywhere else as it is out-of-print and was only issued in limited edition back in 1988. It correlated The Tree of Life, The Seven Planes Chart (see Alice Bailey), The 8 Circuits, and a whole lot more. The book says:

"Let there be no confusion when confronted with these myriad systems, for all these methods are merely descriptions of the same spectrum. Each seemingly separate system can be equated or correlated to any other system. However, some of these systems hold up better under heavy use. The outline of Seven Planes of Consciousness is particularly easy to understand due to its linear, ladder-like portrayal of the levels of awareness. The Tree of Life of the Qabalists, Rosicrucians, and modern mystery schools stands supreme as a matrix for identifying ten levels of human awareness with twenty-two "ways of doing things." "

"Emotions" - The emotional/feeling plane. That's right!

What about sex? On the physical plane, see any anatomy/physiology book. On the emotional plane, here it is at Yesod. It also comes into play (with varying definitions) at all the other planes - on their own levels!

What about dreams? Dreams also occur at many levels. The correlations posted were simply that: Correlations. The book dealt with many issues and was not intended to fully explain everything.

That's a completely different correlation. I fail to see how the 1st circuit (survival) is attributed to Moon-day (Yesod on the Tree). I am always suspicious of correlations that follow something like the same order as the days of the week, or the progression of the months, or the order of the colors in the rainbow, merely because scientists, and emperors, and churches have fiddled and adjusted these things to fit their needs, but not necessarily because it's the way nature does it. You are wise to be "bugged" in this case.

The correlation is not direct as there are 8 circuits and 10 spheres. But ...

1st circuit: Malkuth
"Every human receives an "imprint" of the physical consciousness at birth and shortly thereafter. The physical imprint is something we have in common with even simple organisms: Survival. Physical imprints cause us to move forward toward that which is perceived as "nourishing," and cause us to move away from (backward) that which is perceived as "threatening." In modern, human consciousness this has indirectly and directly led to the concept of obtaining money, for money is the key to contemporary nourishment. You may correctly deduce that a person who receives a weak physical imprint will not be primarily motivated toward food or money, and may be malnourished and in constant financial difficulty as an adult. There are two primary systems which attempt to reprogram the physical imprint. One is Psychology, the other is found in the Martial Arts."

2nd circuit: Yesod
"Every human receives an "imprint" of the emotional consciousness upon reaching the "toddler" stage (when first standing upright and beginning to walk) and shortly thereafter. The emotional imprint is something we have in common with most group organisms: Territorial dominance or passiveness. Emotional imprints cause us to assume a dominant or passive attitude in relation to others."

3rd circuit: Hod
"Every human receives an "imprint" of the intellectual consciousness (sphere eight on the Tree of Life) upon reaching the "monkey" stage (when moving around with curiosity and beginning to talk and to grasp objects), and shortly thereafter. The sphere eight intellectual imprint is something we have in common with most human beings: The ability to manipulate words and/or human artifacts (tools). Sphere eight imprints cause us to assume a "bright" or "dull" ability to verbally express and/or to manually operate tools. Since this imprint leads toward manipulation of the environment, we ironically find that it is itself subject to manipulation by agents of the environment, particularly in the guise of theologians, ideologists, and mass-media advertisers."

4th circuit: Netzach
"Every human receives an "imprint" of the social consciousness (specifically at sphere seven) upon reaching puberty. The ability to maintain social and sexual behavior within (or without) contemporary social law, custom, and moral behavior. Sphere seven imprints cause us to assume a "respectable" or "outlaw" stance in relation to social customs."

5th circuit: Tiphereth-Geburah-Chesed
"Some humans receive an "imprint" of the causal consciousness upon activating a proper "trigger." Suitable triggers may include meditation, sensory deprivation, free fall, zero gravity, religious rapture, faith healing, pranayama (breathing exercises), initiatory shock, tantra, cannabis intoxication, fasting, psychological stress, and acupuncture.
Causal plane imprints may be generated from any one of the three subplanes of the Causal plane [Tiphereth-Geburah-Chesed] on the Seven Planes Chart, but the third (lowest) subplane, corresponding to sphere six of the Tree of Life [Tiphereth], is most common. Specifically, the causal imprint has the ability to instantly override the imprints of all lower spheres. This gives us a key to salvation from the otherwise-impossible-to-change patterns imprinted on the various aspects of our personalities. The causal imprint is something we have in common with about twenty percent of humanity: It is the blurring of the separation between body and mind; the release of this separation leads to a feeling of ecstasy.
This level of consciousness, being attributed to sphere six, "Harmony and Beauty," encourages the individual to seek pleasure (hedonism), and the fine arts (music, art, sculpture, etc.) are a direct expression of this imprint. The pleasure, or more exactly the ecstasy, abolishes the struggle for survival (which is dominated by the first four levels of imprinting), and replaces it with a "floating" or "high" sensation." "

6th circuit: Binah
"Some humans receive an "imprint" of the intuitional consciousness upon activating a proper trigger, which usually includes an ongoing, developing, lengthy experience with meditation (Causal consciousness). Psychedelic substances like LSD-25 are specific for activating or facilitating this imprint. The Intuitional consciousness, or Buddhic plane, is called by metaphysicians the "Akashic Records," which is the storage place for historical information or previous existences. Specifically, the intuitional imprint confers the ability to do specific work along specific evolutionary lines with 'memory' or an intuitive understanding of the universal factors involved. The buddhic imprint is something we have in common with about five percent of humanity.
Those who are operating from the intuitional realm display tolerance of events and other people, compassion, and (interestingly) amorality. The charge of "amorality" has been hurled against every individual who ever saw the truth (the Akashic Records) and then spoke out, or acted, in accordance with that truth. "

7th circuit: Chokmah
"Some humans receive an "imprint" of the spiritual consciousness upon activating a proper trigger, which may include many years of advanced Raja Yoga, the use of sacred power plants, and/or the practice of Magick. The Spiritual, or Atmic, plane is called by metaphysicians and parapsychologists the "Metaprogramming Circuit" or "Magical Consciousness." Specifically, the spiritual imprint confers the ability to "construct a new reality tunnel." Accessing this level of consciousness is the only means to reprogram the imprints of the personality, which otherwise will remain unchanged throughout a lifetime (and perhaps beyond!). The atmic imprint is something we have in common with about three percent of humanity.
For the person who succeeds in gaining access to this level, and is able to operate (even a little) herein, there lies the danger of degeneration into megalomania. The metaprogramming circuit is too real, and too powerful a concept, to project it directly outward to normal humanity without wrapping it extensively in a genuine sense of humor."

8th circuit: Kether
"Some humans receive an "imprint" of the monadic consciousness upon activating a proper trigger, which may include clinical death (dying on an operating table and then being revived) or 100% out of the body projections (see Astral Projection). The Monadic plane is called by metaphysicians and parapsychologists the "Quantum Circuit." Specifically, the monadic imprint confers the ability to "access all the information of the Universe." Accessing this level of consciousness often results in reports of extra-terrestrial contact, communication with a "galactic overmind," or conversations with angels. Monadic consciousness exists without a biological container. The monadic imprint is something we have in common with only one to two percent of humanity.
On the Tree of Life, the Monadic plane is the uppermost sphere (number One). This is one of the best "tests" that one can apply to a "Neophyte" [or "higher-grade" teacher] or any system that professes to be affiliated with A.'.A.'..

Sometimes the "teacher" just can't wait to get involved in telling the Probationer what to do - and of course this violates the whole concept of probation. Beginners beware!

Your comment doesn't sound right. There is (at least) one Thelemic lineage that teaches one to throw 6 coins once! See the instructions in Crowley's Yi King, published in 1968.

There is also a 3 coin method that is somewhat popular wherein the coins are thrown 6 times. Regardless of how one arrives at a hexagram and moving line(s), the ONLY method that really counts is the one that you agree with yourself about. There is no "you're supposed to" method for *Yi King *or Tarot or (while we're at it) anything else.

That classical definition seems to cover all the bases. Any "in-depth" answers would probably revolve around defining and dissecting the terms "causing" and "Will," and there are long, long threads dedicated to "Will."

As a matter of observance, it seems the original question is more along the lines of trolling; or it could be that the questioner is very new to the game and has not yet examined Book IV, Part III.
