THE QUEEN OF THE THRONES OF FLAME
The Queen of Wands – Queen of the Salamanders
    WATER of FIRE

Meditation pattern: Place 10 of Cups, 2 of Wands, and 3 of Wands side-by-side, with the Queen of Wands above them. Below the two Wands, place Atu IV, The Emperor.

Traditional Description: A crowned queen with long red-golden hair, seated upon a throne, with steady flames beneath. She wears a corselet and buskins of scale-mail, which latter her robe discloses. Her arms are almost bare. On cuirass and buskins are winged leopard’s heads; the same symbol surmounts her crown. At her side is a couchant leopard on which her hands rest. She bears a long wand with a very heavy conical head. Her face is beautiful and resolute.

HEH of YOD (WATER of FIRE): This card expresses the idea of the Scarlet Woman. She is the Heh, or Binah, idea within the realm of Fire and within Atziluth, representing that feminine quality of Understanding wherein all power is received, held, and nurtured. She is DOMINION, and the ESTABLISHED STRENGTH by which that dominion is brought to term. As Heh, or Binah, within Atziluth, she also expresses an aspect of Neshamah. She is, the Sacred Fire, the Shin of Shekinah, the anointing chrism or Sanctifying Fire known to adepts. Similarly, she is the Supernal aspect of subconsciousness wherein True Will has established itself, and wherein circumstances are prepared for its execution.

She rules the heavens from 20° Pisces to 20° Aries (thus including part of Andromeda). From the fiery decanates we derive the titles DOMINION (Mars-Aries) and VIRTUE or ESTABLISHED STRENGTH (Sun-Aries). “Virtue” is used in its older sense, meaning, simply, “power.” The Aries, martial, and solar attributions admit that there is much masculine energy in her. Furthermore, the letter Tzaddi (corresponding to Aries) refers to meditation, or in-turned reflection. She is ecstatic in her meditation; and it is by her inner fixedness that the fiery instinctual energies are drawn up from their reproductive purposes (Yesod), to express as a fiery higher desire and will-force (Netzach). This “fiery feminine” is very much her quality. It is by her inner reflection that she transmutes instinctual energies to be the source of her magnetic and effective power. The Mars decanate shows strength, dominion, boldness, courage, love of freedom, fierceness, pride, ambition, etc. The solar decanate shows similar traits but with greater regality and nobility. Her flames are steady, while those of the Knight were wavy and volatile: As Heh, she adds a steadying influence.

Her shadow aspect is the Mars decanate of Pisces. SATIETY – fulfillment – would undermine her nature. Mars/Pisces is indirect, deceptive, dissipating, wanton, undisciplined – everything she is not. But, as a consequence of her strength and focused dominion, she could, at times, wish utterly to surrender her control. The fantasy of doing so is always present.

In divination, the character shows dominion and established strength, boldness, courage, love of freedom, fierceness; pride, ambition, regality, nobility; adaptability, steady force applied to an objective, steady rule and governance; magnetic with great attractive power; successful in business, imbued with power of command, yet personable and attracting the affection of others. Kind and generous when not opposed. If ill-dignified: obstinate, revengeful, domineering, tyrannical, and apt to turn against another without a cause.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

It is seemingly synchronistic that I had been contemplating this card before realizing it was the one being meditated upon here for these last few days.

I literally just finished reading Let Your Life Speak by Parker J. Palmer before making this post which (spoiler alert!) ends in with this equation: community = abundance. This TED talk I watched last night also speaks to this in a sense that I find similar.

To me, I see this card as emphasis that every man and every woman is a star. There is another interpretation that I'm having difficulty finding words for, but the jist is that all things are (for lack of a better term) "trapped" in Unity.

Love is the law, love under will.

I goofed BTW when I said "judge and jury" - meant "judge and witnesses" - was answering on the fly from my phone.

But... c'mon, you're making this too complicated. The woman is satisfied by the directed application of the cock and balls.

At the other level... well, the whole doctrine of Lamed is elegantly simple, but sometimes takes 20-30 minutes to get the concept across. It concerns the nature of what karma really is - and how the context of the universe adapts and shifts (with the many folds or veils of her garment constantly shifting in her dance) as the nature of her Aleph (her mate and counterpart) shifts. The main point is that Aleph and Lamed together constitute the entirety of the universe, so a change in the experience or orientation or direction of the Aleph (the living being, inherently unconditional, moving through eternal existence) causes an instantaneous shift in the nature of Lamed - they are reciprocal and inseparable.

With the Ace, The Universe is present as representing Earth. With the 7, it is present as representing Saturn.

When I look at the arrangement I get the impression that the Hierophant and Priestess are bestowing a ton of gifts on me. In my own personal worldly matters, I experienced a large influx of money taking me from not having any to having more than enough after all of my bills were paid.

I just noticed that I did not share about this card yet. I promise, I will get the hang of this eventually! 😊

Here is a bit from my diary about this card:

Today with meditation on the 3 of disks (Tower/Devil flanking):
...thoughts of industry...of using all parts of oneself...of using the seeming obstacles in your Work...of being "on the court"….of the Angel putting obstacles in your path to "use" as opportunities for breakthrough….that doing the work of breaking through our illusions regarding the limited view of ourselves is THE WORK. ..our working this work is the fuel of which to do our Work...walking the walk not just talking the talk….reality, in this timeline….

I regret having to admit this, but I have fallen behind in the meditations. I have been keeping this card, with the flanking ones, on my mind all week, but haven't formally meditated on them. But there is one thing interesting to note; during this time I bought a new car. This was my first new car and first time with a car payment.

I will proceed with catching up with the meditations.

"This card is an excellent example of how deeper layers of the root symbolism are disclosed on closer meditative examination. All of the main points above are "true" ... and there are deeper principles underlaying them."

The parallel I see between this arrangement and the ace of disks arrangement is the establishment of the True Will on the material plane. With the ace, the seed was planted. With the 5 it's starting to sprout. Sprouting isn't necessarily a painless process. It takes some pressure. Some pushing and some shedding of a protective membrane.

We are making more room for the fullest Self expression on the physical and aligning ourselves with it. Things are getting shaken up but we're prepared to deal with the madness that ensues.

I met a guy last time I was meditating on the Devil/Capricorn. He was just all energy, but all earthy energy. I mean, sex, and money, and crunching numbers quickly, and just... mastering the material realm in a very happy, energetic, and yes, devilishly, charmingly selfish kind of way. I learned a lot from meeting him. He's shaped my understanding of Capricorn and of the Devil trump more than any other person I've encountered. It was his energy that left the impression on me. It was almost tangible. I just wanted to point at him and say, "Gotcha! You're Capricorn! You're Saturn/Mars!" like it was some game. That's how strong the feeling was.

When you add the expansion of Jupiter and the cycles of the Wheel of Fortune, it would just seem to give that Capricorn vibe even more energy: "Go bigger! Cycle faster! Master more!"

When I put them together, I must admit, my first image was of the old Two of Pentacles, where a man juggles. That's the image I get when I insert the image of my friend. It's not until I focus more on the energy itself that the Thoth image comes into view. There, we just seem to have an image of the energy itself revolving and changing through its different forms.

    New direction. Me too.

The Universe in the Thoth deck always strikes me a little differently than that of the BOTA deck. There's only dancing in the BOTA deck. But in the Thoth deck, you have the snake and the sharp hook that are reminders of harsher aspects of reality. Taking a step back, however, to view the whole, there's the beauty of the Universe functioning in the only way it can - functioning exactly as it should.

When I add the Hierophant to the previous key, it seems to add guidance. Without the Hierophant, it's as if one could get lost and eaten in the Universe without ever even understanding why. With the addition of the Hierophant, the vast and seemingly divergent forces of the universe are understood, navigated, and implemented toward a purposeful work.

In the Ace of Disks, we then see the seed of that work represented.

Sudden, vengeful severance possibly in reaction to a perceived threat or hurtful situation. Domination through isolation. Knee-jerk criticism. Impulsive corrective action with no constraints. Telling it like it is without holding back. Disgusting internal dialogue. The energy this set-up represents is pretty fucked up. It highlights the nasty side of us that we fight so hard to keep in the dark.

This card brings to mind movement, flowing, charity even and it all originates from beyond. For me it's hard to look at this card without associating the top lotus with the zero and the 2nd lotus as 1/Kether.

"I'm not referencing the autistic neurotype at all. The medical terminology is newer than the basic meaning of the word, not a pejorative added after the fact. The psychiatric term only dates back to 1912.

Literally and etymologically (which are generally the same thing), autism means selfism. Depending on the dictionary, its basic meaning is something like "characterized by abnormal subjectivity" (that's from American Heritage) or "a tendency to view life in terms of one's own needs and desires" (that's the more lax dictionary.com)."

Then I have an autistic philosophy and am in no way ashamed of it.

Long story short: this arrangement is about getting nose to nose with the stupid shit we do that totally derails us from doing something we set out to do because we let our emotions take us right out of the game.

When I meditate on this I immediately think of this passage from the Book of the Law:

"43. Let the Scarlet Woman beware! If pity and compassion and tenderness visit her heart; if she leave my work to toy with old sweetnesses; then shall my vengeance be known. I will slay me her child: I will alienate her heart: I will cast her out from men: as a shrinking and despised harlot shall she crawl through dusk wet streets, and die cold and an-hungered."

Reading what you posted really freed something up for me. Thanks so much."

    Here, here!

I have had the exact same old-flame-ignited deal going on all week.
My heart's been beating a little faster than it should, and it's going nowhere.
It's always hard knowing that Understanding is dust without the Wisdom to use it.
It means we have to leave the womb and work.
Otherwise we will never know true rest, wherein the passivity of the womb is known to be but a temporary and incomplete poison in the face of Nephthys.
