Magic and Song

I feel myself inwardly and unchangably intoning names and adorations in what I would term as "Egyptian" notes or wavelength. It must be experienced to know what I mean, but here's a rough explaination:
Power chords, on a guitar, the chords "easier" to play however they jump notes and don't exactly hit each one all the way up, though the chord is organized in such a way as to introduce the higher notes in what would be a regular chord.
This is what egyptian religion pretty much did, and there's a pattern and harmony to it. All I can really say is that when I intone names and adorations, it sound like egyptian power chord notes.
Very powerful.

Listen to Tool!
Seriously. Besides the fact that their albums are hour-long rituals passing through the four principle stages of the alchemical process, purging and activating the four elements in a unique succession, their song Intension off of the album 10,000 Days is perfect for banishing of any sort.
"Pure as we begin, moved by will alone..." etc..
Also, try the Time Machines album by Coil for neutral but gnostic sound-scapes, and perhaps some Lustmord, specifically the album [OTHER], which is some very meditative dark-ambient ear candy.I'm a musician myself, music being the most active medium for communion with my Angel, so it plays a huge part in my experience of the spiritual; I incorporate it everywhere I can.

This. I have an idea of what you're talking about, and a bit of experience with it. I am working up a greater knowledge of Egyptian Cosmic Resonance through Rosemary Clark's books so I can begin working a series of musical invocations for Djehuti(the god of Resonance, speech, vibration) and Ma'at(the resonant matrix/womb that receives Djehuti's word/vibration). I have a Sun and Mercury in Gemini, so Djehuti is my totem in many ways.

Very interesting, ive never thought of intoning to any particular tone/chord etc., probably because I am not knowledgeable in music. I certainly see how powerful that could be. Any suggestions on trying it? How do you determine the tones for particular names etc?

Im assuming then these guys wrote the material with that purpose in mind?? They are magicians as well? Have to admit I heard of Tool but never really listened. Why the name Tool? Thanks for the advice, ill definitely check it out.

Oh, absolutely. Check out the imagery and lyrics in this video for a very brief example(released in 2001): www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8g0RIntiFc
The album this song is off of is related to Earth and the alchemical stage of Citrinitas, in my interpretation.
Also, a video of them live in '98, from their Water/Albedo album(notice the Solomonic board in the back): www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vTFxbQDnwM@Daegal said

The name refers to their motivation to make music that is a TOOL to be used in reaching higher states of consciousness. Also, it refers to a penis. Same thing though

Is there any material of AC or elsewhere that goes into the magical "structure" of music or songcraft? As I mentioned before, this seems to be a no brainer, and it would seem then the magician(s) of Tool got it. Did they ever discuss a particular theory etc?

I'm not quite sure what you meant here, but just to be clear: a power chord is the root plus a perfect fifth (7 semitones). It's your standard major or minor chord with the 3rd removed. (Octaves can be added in as well, of course.)@Duo Columpnas said

Also from Coil check out "How to Destroy Angels". It was designed to raise male sexual energy through the invocation of Mars. The work was performed as a magical ceremony and they apparently relied heavily on 777 in the composition (iron percussion instruments, etc.). I had it playing in the background while invoking Mars once. It certainly enhanced the atmosphere, if nothing else. Also, check out the fanastic work that Eleusyve Productions in Seattle has done producing A.C.'s "The Rites of Eleusis" as musical theatre. (Check out their website www.eleusyve.com/) There's also an interview with the founders, Jon Sewell and Melissa Holm in the 3rd episode of the Speech in the Silence podcast (here: speechinthesilence.com/webpage/episode-3-sol-in-pisces-year-105) that might be worthwhile for some of you. It's been a while since I listened to it, but I remember Sewell in particular having some very interesting things to say about composing music to invoke a specific (in this case planetary) force.

Just get a keyboard at Walmart, which is always easiest to learn the notes and such with because the keys are all laid out in linear form. Even all the sharps and flats are organized into half-step black keys. Then, start with something simple, like Liber Resh. Intone your final adoration in the simplest fashion you can. (Go from your normal recitation of it at first, then let your inner, higher self guide you into musical expression.)
If you are successful in rituals such as the pentagram rituals, then feeling your true musical connection to the divine names will not be that hard. In fact, you don't even have to learn notes, (but you should,) to start this if you have a knack for Magick.

Did you know that you can find the resonance of a sphere by a few easy measurements? This applies to celestial bodies. For example, the natural resonance of the Sun is B natural, Earth is F# -- a perfect fifth! etc...
-
Might you elaborate a step or two on the practice?
Imbibing Nuit's more rare and sacred sacraments I have, three or four nights a week, some nights more awaken than others, and deep insight into music and magick have I gained.
The resonance of everything is not being tucked back into the shadows after the experience like it used to. Serious interest I have, in this musical measurement theory of yours.
I will try to hold back, and not get fed up with three dimensional human language, holding back from trying to pry my mouth open, and shoot out like a celestial ejaculate through the top of my skull.

Many thanks, but I was actually referring to one of the climaxes of liber Samekh.
When one's spiritual essence gives itself up to your holy guardian angel through the top of your head right through your skull through the sahasrara chakra.

Ive always been curious why music itself, and song writing, and even singing hasnt been more used in magick. Watching another sing, and of course singing itself for the performer is a powerfully emotional esperience. Of course if done well, and perhaps regardless. Wouldnt this be a powerful tool to enflame thyself? Why havent we seen more magical techniques for the use of music and vocals? Perhaps even song writing for ritual, as a potent method of "the Sword" aspect of the steps of ritual Jim mentions in his book?

I highly recommend this book to any person interested in bringing more music into thier lives, and more magick too.

All ritual moves,
In a heart-beat rhythm,
that reflects our soulAn interesting phenomenon:
Focusing on the Hebrew letters as I intone,
Both their drawing and placing,
In the scheme of the LBRP;
I begin to grow more passive,
Flowing through me,
Undulations in the air,
Minute changes in toneWhere each letter takes on a character of its own...
This rising crescendo bleeds out into the Work.
After a long time dancing in Silence,
I have once more began adding Color & Sound
Intensity-Ecstasy-Concious-Continuity
An addictive quality intertwining with the BreathThough this is where I was not too long ago,
Walking that fine razors edge I adore so well ;
Shall I make the same mistakes again?
No, there shall be a change, a growth, an understanding
The question is, have I yet grown wise to the methods of my own demise? My my have I been long-winded recently
I shall end with an interlude on the French Garden Hose:

You think this is the root if music perhaps? Our mothers heartbeat? Thats a interesting theory. Ive read a bit about the mystery of tge origibs of music etc, and how universal it is to humans. I like this simple and even symbolic type of idea.
