When Crowley died, there were several talismans found in his effects that looked pretty messed up. So yeah, that's certainly possible.

I guess the lesson is that, in that particular system, having a talisman stay looking good wasn't as important as other things.

Consider that in VIII° work, some practices have you masturbating on your Enochian tablets. It is no surprise that, in time, these start... attracting things.

I am not sure that it is supposed to be green or a cone; in the original it doesn't look like a cone and it looks to be the same color as his collar, and somewhere between the color on Hadit's wings and Nuit's face, though it is difficult to tell from the state of the stele. Also, I had never heard of those incense hat thingies, so I had to look them up, and I agree --- as far as I can tell they do not look to be the same; though I suppose it could be a variant.

I'd say Legis' point about bringing in a bit of the shadow element from the previous sign is good to consider when the card comes up in a reading but, as representations of the querant, one should determine it by nature rather than by specific birthdate. i.e. use the astrology to help interpret the card rather than the other way around. The sidereal zodiac especially doesn't recognize any bleed between the signs at their cusps and 10º is well beyond what even the Tropical would allow.

In case the Y'sod-Mars point wasn't clear: Y'sod (YSVD) enumerates to 80. This links it very solidly with Peh (80), which leads to several very clear relationships being witnessed between Y'sod and what is commonly called "the Mars force" (most commonly, but not exclusively, expressed through organs of sexual reproduction).

I found this interesting correspondance in William Sterling's The Canon for any of those who are familiar with the Holy Oblation of Ezekiel:

"The name Sphinx has the value of 773, or the perimeter of the Holy Oblation taking the sun's distance at 10. St. Clement (“Miscell.,” bk. v., ch.8 ) says,“The sphinx is not the comprehension of the universe, and the revolution of the world, according to the poet Aratus . . . But it is better to regard it as the Ether, which holds together and presses all things.” By gematria Sphinx is equivalent to Syrinx, the pipe of seven reeds shown in the hand of Pan (fig.25). And doubtless her well-known riddle, whose answer was a Man, mystically adumbrated the Microcosm whose body is measured by the number 773."

I realise that all magickal weapons are merely symbolic, and once incorporated into the psyche fully they are no longer necassary in physical form. However, I have not reached a level of comfort in that respect. Furthermore, it is not ment to merely be internalized symbolism from the get-go because Crowley is wearing a Uraeus serpent crown in the photo in the front of Book 4.
